Carl Andre«1935 in Quincy, Massachusetts, lebt in New York Carl Andre ist der bekannteste Wegbereiter für ein Konzept von "Skulptur als Feld". Mitte der 60er Jahre entwickelt er aus der Arbeit mit dem Material in der Bodenfläche einen völlig neuartigen Begriff von Skulptur: "Ich begriff, dass das Ding, das ich schnitt, der Schnitt selbst war. Anstatt in das Material zu schneiden, nutze ich jetzt das Material als Schnitt in den Raum." Carl Andre ist in der Göttinger Ausstellung mit der Arbeit "48 Roaring Forties" (Madrid 1988) vertreten. « 1935 in Quincy, Massachusetts, lives in New York Carl Andre is one of the most well-known authorities on the concept of "sculpture als field". In the mid-sixties he developed a totally new understanding of sculpture through his work with material which he laid out on floor surfaces. The artist says: "I realised that the thing I was cutting was the cut. Rather than to cut into the material, I now use the materials to cut into the space." "48 Roaring Forties", a work completed by Carl Andre in 1988 in Madrid, will be featured in the exhibition in Göttingen, on loan, with gratitude, from the Kunstsammlung NRW in Düsseldorf. | ||
